Biden Calls on President NOT to Appoint Bolton
On Friday, Senator Biden called on President Bush NOT to sidestep the U.S. Senate by giving John Bolton a recess appointment to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Biden noted that since the United Nation’s founding in 1945, the United States has sent 24 ambassadors to the U.N. and not a single one has ever been recess appointed. Senator Biden:
This is not the man we should be sending to the United Nations. We need someone with credibility, who can stand up and make the case on intelligence relating to North Korea or Iran’s nuclear aspirations. We need someone who has credibility in the eyes of the international community and someone whom the American people can trust.
