As per the report from CNW survey, Democrats own S.U.V.’s too, however they usually favor smaller and those that are foreign-made. Republicans usually like bigger and American-made cars and even it was manufactured abroad, it should be by an American company. The study also discovered that minivans are favored by the blue states (states the where majority favored the Democrats) which is quite surprising because Republicans tend to have a bigger family having more children than the democrat buyers.
When it comes to buying decision, the red state (states that favor Republicans) is more dominated by men when it comes to car buying decisions. The blue states has a joint decision in the buying process where women can have a say in the buying process. Therefore, the blue states end up favoring SUV’s because of the joint decision process (more women favor an SUV compared to men). Democrats will consider a wider range of cars before making the final purchase. Republicans go for the brand and tend to be loyal to the car brand they previously owned. And it should be American made.
Democrats tend to put hybrid cars in their list of choices. The Toyota Prius hybrid have more Democrats in the list of buyers. They also tend to go for smaller cars because most of them live in the city, are younger in age, and have less children. Considering that most of them live in the city, parking had always been an issue. Therefore, smaller cars are the go-to because it is easier to park.
The buying activity of the people in the United States is more affected by geography than politics. Although, some car buyers are influenced by the political image that comes with a few cars. It’s interesting to note the influences that people have when buying cars, whether it is geographically enclined or politically inclined, the bottomline is that they have their own liking when it comes to cars. So if you are a car salesman, you have to be keen about the background of the customers you are talking to.
